The Farm's History

Doug Ringer is a 6th generation Guernsey County, Ohio farmer. His great-great-great-great grandfather Samuel Mehaffey arrived in New York Harbor from Ireland on July 19th, 1812, the day the USA declared war on Great Britain, and only a stroke of luck prevented him from being taken prisoner by the US Government.

He soon arrived in Guernsey County and was one of the pioneer families of Adams Township, where part of Pure Meadow Farm is located. By 1840, Mehaffeys owned 465 acres in Adams Township–about the size of Pure Meadow Farm.

Today, in the same pioneering spirit as Samuel Mehaffey, Doug and his wife Desiree have eliminated all herbicides, pesticides and petroleum-based fertilizers, and use their animals' God-given instinct to heal and rebuild the soil while producing some of the healthiest food on the planet.

“Improving the health of our customers and our environment, one bite at-a-time" is the guiding principle of Pure Meadow Farm.
